Rules: Write a journal entry for this meme with ten random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends list and tag them - no tag backs. These rules should be included in your entry.

I've done this before, but I'll try to come up with at least a few that I haven't used previously.

1. Although I'm not particularly religious, I believe in God. I make no excuses for this -- people who want me to prove God exists are missing the point. You prove God *doesn't* exist, then we'll talk.

2. Although I love to read, I've never read most books considered by the experts to be "classics".

3. I used to hide under the bleachers to avoid PE in school.

4. I'd give up almost everything I own in return for the chance to write fiction full time.

5. I have a huge collection of movie soundtrack music.

6. I suffer from chronic back pain, due to poor lifting technique -- and from wearing a steel air tank on my back for much of 12 hours straight during my first really big fire.

7. My first crush was on the literary character Dorothy Gale, from the Oz books. (*not* Judy Garland.)

8. I collected comic books for many years, and still have some of them.

9. I hate using power tools.

10. I love history; I make no excuses for that, either.

I've read some of the books that the experts deem to be classics and was underwhelmed. I'm unsure if I went into them with the stories being overhyped and was doomed to disappointment.

Overhype is my guess. I'm still recovering from a really nasty "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" experience in Middle School.

Stay the hell away from Moby Dick. I don't think I lasted the first chapter before coming to the realisation that this was a man who was paid by the word.

Yes, I learned that just from reading *about* Moby Dick. My understanding is that the entire book is symbolism, but I'd like some entertainment mixed in with my sledge hammered "meaning". This is one time that the movie is better.

Re: double yay!
Of course. You'll just have to remind me. And I'll bring my Cure collection as well. :D

Don't forget!

Oh -- a little early to remind you, huh? :-)

Re: double yay!
Yeah, just a bit, lol. But you're always good at reminding me to do stuff, so it shouldn't be a problem. :)

Re: double yay!
Yeah... you wouldn't happen to have the Sandman comics lying around there somewhere, would you? lol

love your icon!
No, I never read Sandman. I think the only ones I have left in my collection are X-Men, New Mutants, Teen Titans, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Legion of Superheroes, although there might be some other odds and ends laying around somewhere.

That might seem like a long list, but I've sold more than two thirds of my collection over the years.

Re: love your icon!
I was a pretty hard core comic reader, back in the day -- I actually had subscriptions to several of my favorites, for awhile. That was back before it was respectable to read "graphic novels"; and also back when you could pick one up for 75 cents, instead of three or four times that cost.
