  1. anime:
I grew up and gave up comic books, and then I found grown up comic books. It's pretty much as simple as that.
  2. buffy:
It's all about the snappy dialogue. Well, and the wonderful characterization. And the weaves of ongoing plotline ... and the humor. And -- ahem -- to feed my more shallow side, the cute women.
  3. fiction writing:
There's no greater moment in the world then when your characters become so real to you that they leave your outline and start doing things you'd never planned on.
  4. firefighting:
Every person has a responsibility to find some way to serve their community. This is not the way I'd recommend for most people, but I love firefighting even when it's cold, hot, or otherwise uncomfortable. And let's face it, it adds those occasional moments of excitement and danger to my normally dull life.
  5. mac computers:
Why putter along in a Pinto when you can cruise in a Mustang?
  6. oz:
As in "Wizard of", not prison show, down under or quiet vampire. The Oz books were my Harry Potter: The books I collected as a kid, that generated and fed my love of reading.
  7. various offbeat tv shows.:
Lost, Joan of Arcadia, Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Tru Calling, Angel, and -- of course -- Buffy. (Okay, I liked Friends, I admit it.) I don't want unreal "reality", I don't want same old same old, and I also don't want something that was thrown together by two guys on cocaine and called "original art". Just keep my imagination and/or funny bone in high gear.
