The No-Campfire Girls cover reveal

You know what I love? When my editor/webmaster/page designer/medic/wife designs a book cover, and people tell me how much they love the book, and I get all the credit even though it was her cover that attracted people to the work in the first place.

On a not unrelated note, here’s the cover for The No-Campfire Girls!

I liked the idea of an earthy, summer camp type cover, with the little campfire logo that hints at the book’s main content, although I’m disturbed that Emily set my name on fire. The e-book version of this novella should be up in about a week, and the print copy will hopefully be available on Amazon at about the same time; we’ll let everyone know when we get our print copies for anyone who wants a signed copy.

Meanwhile, I’m starting a blog tour to publicize the book, so anyone who’s interested in doing a Q&A, or having me write on their blog—or who wants to write on my blog—just let me know!

Just to remind everyone, here’s a synopsis of the story:

Fifteen year old Beth Hamlin is horrified to discover her beloved summer camp must go without campfires this year, due to the fire hazard from a drought. At first she and her friends try to perk up the other campers, but Beth isn't one to just sit (or swim, or boat, or horseback) around, when there's a challenge to be met.

Beth discovers her new cabin mate, Cassidy, knows a local Cherokee who claims the ability to do a rain dance. Now all they have to do is trick the Camp Director into letting Running Creek do the dance there, avoid the local bully and a flying arrow or two … and keep from getting caught plotting with the local fire captain on a forbidden cell phone. With luck southern Indiana will get a nice, soaking rain, and when it's over Camp Inipi can have proper campfires again.

But when things go horribly wrong, the whole area is endangered by a double disaster. Now Beth, Cassidy, and the rest of their unit may be the only people who can save not only their camp, but everyone in it.

When Beth's big brother told her being a teenager could be rough, he probably didn't have this in mind.

Re: It looks great!
Thanks! I passed on to Emily that you liked it!

I love that she set your name on fire. It's a very nice cover. I'd gladly have you on this blog of jana_denardo if you'd like. When you get the buy now link I will put it on my professional facebook/twitter too.

I think this sounds like a fun story.

Sure, that would be great! It went up yesterday on Amazon, so we're just about in business.

Would you like me to write something up, or shoot me some questions? When it comes to blog hops I seems to have a strange evacuated section in my brain ... the only part I'm good at it selling people it's there.

since it's finals week and I'm busy writing them, why don't I let you write something up (which blog did you want to put it in)

Yeah the blog hops sometimes make me wonder if i have a clue what I'm doing

Will do, I'll have to think about which blog (or both?) I don't know how often I'm supposed to be scheduling these things either, and I've got one just up and another one for about a week. Take it easy during finals week and I'll get back to you when things cool down.

sounds good to me. And yeah it's like my planning skills for these suck. Why do I have 3 in 5 days then none for three weeks?!?

My last one just kind of petered out ...

Looks good!
(she set your name on fire to subliminally tell everybody you are smokin' hot!)
May. 4th, 2014 05:02 am (UTC)
I'm willing to accept that scenario ...
May. 2nd, 2014 01:54 pm (UTC)
You are more than welcome to post on my public blog, but it has a readership of one. Just me.
May. 4th, 2014 05:03 am (UTC)
Well, I can see if I can bring that number up ... I'm not very good at figuring out blog posts, but I'm getting better at shouting things from the rooftop. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to write about? Some people send me questions, others just have me write about the book, others have specific areas to talk about.
May. 5th, 2014 03:52 am (UTC)

I have not fully figured out how to work it, but I did plug your book!
May. 12th, 2014 09:00 am (UTC)
I haven't forgotten you! But I don't remember if we discussed any further about whether you wanted to do something on your blog, or have me write up something for you to put on it. I've got two pieces relating to the book, if you're interested in looking at them.

I am agreeable to whatever you want to do. The catch is, I am going into crazy mode day-after-tomorrow for a week, as in-laws arrive and the child graduates. "Normal" - or what passes for normal in my world - will return the 22nd.
So either it can be done "right now" or I can just give you the log in info and you can post anything your little heart desires between now and the 22nd or we can do it after that point.
Unless you have either a cleaning crew, a blindfold and muzzle, or Samantha's N-gun....then we can talk turkey.

May. 13th, 2014 05:12 am (UTC)
Hm ... I'll tell you what, why don't we just wait until all that stuff is over, assuming you don't shoot somebody. Just let me know when you're ready and what you want to do, and we'll be off to the normal recovery races.
May. 13th, 2014 01:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, that N-gun did not shoot anybody - they used it on that nasty Mrs Kravits and she was suddenly sweet and loving - until it wore off, anyway.
(long ago episode of Bewitched)

What gun did Samantha use to turn Darren into a different Darren?

And now it's up on Amazon -- we're in business!
