The Walking Nerd

We watched episode 1 of The Walking Dead after dinner -- with commentary by the producer. Definite proof that Emily Stroud and I have earned certified geek status. I didn't realize until later that there was something of a sacrilegious irony in watching a show about dead people rising ... on Easter.

Actually, no, it's not ironic. If you check out the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus' death triggers an invasion of zombies on Jerusalem. "The tombs broke open and the bodies of may holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people."

Personally, I think it was more odd for me to be watching Die Hard on Christmas. I ultimately shrugged and thought, Well, it is technically a Christmas movie....

Nothing says Christmas like blowing away thieving terrorists with a machine gun. Ho ho ho!

I can see that! As awesome as The Walking Dead is, with its great characters, dialogue, cinematography and such, it remains a zombie show -- and thus high on the blood and gore count.
