You'll shoot your writer's eye out!

Working on my annual Christmas column. It's not easy, finding something that's not too cliche'd but that I haven't covered before. Actually, I'm not sure it's possible to write a Christmas piece that isn't cliche'd; has there been any new Christmas writing that's not overly sentimental since "The Charlie Brown Christmas Special"? Maybe "A Christmas Story", but that's based on a story that dates back to the 60's.

On the other hand, for Christmas I think we can be excused a little sentimentality.

The story took place then, but I was talking about when the original stories were actually written: They came out in Playboy Magazine, of all places, in the mid 60's. That would date them to very close to the same time the Charlie Brown Christmas Special first came out. It must have been a good time for Christmas!

Well, he gets a bit sentimental toward the end ...

I just checked, and that show came out in 1966. The 60's were a great time for classic Christmas shows!
