We got in the bullseye this time

Nothing like being the lead story on The Weather Channel. Here's the view from my front door this afternoon:

Looks like Tommy Leatherman's going to have a busy night pulling people out of the ditch:

Here's a look out the back door:

But at least things look warmer inside (Emily took this photo):

Be careful, people: It's not getting any better for awhile.

Ho, ho, ho - I guess Winter is here.
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:02 am (UTC)
Yeah, with a few more weeks before winter officially starts. And you know how I feel about winter ... *points to icon*

Nasty outside, pretty inside!

This should warm you up - I bought your book. You forced me to learn to work my Nook, for which I am eternally thankful.

That does warm me up, and make me very happy!
Nov. 30th, 2011 12:58 am (UTC)
Yikes! That looks like a lot of snow.
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:03 am (UTC)
About six inches, give or take. On the one hand, some of it melted immediately because the ground's still warm; on the other hand, we got a couple of inches of rain before the snow started, which means not only is the snow wet and heavy, but the roads are very greasy. Lots of trees and wires down, and car crashes tonight.

Looks very pretty, but I'm glad we don't have that here yet. And viewing those photos is pretty appropriate as I settle in for my annual viewing of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. :-)

Just between you and me, I agree that it looks pretty ... but I still despise snow with every fiber of my being, with the exception of a 36 hour period covering Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Wow! It's easy to forget that other people are getting something more than incessant rain. Love the last photo!
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:06 am (UTC)
Oh, we got the incessant rain, too! Something like three inches over a couple of days -- we were just starting to get flooding reports when the snow started.
Nov. 30th, 2011 03:15 am (UTC)
Snow! Poor you! I hate snow but it sure does look pretty.

I should count how many times I write that sentence this winter.
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:07 am (UTC)
I usually don't say the snow looks pretty even though I agree that it does ... I spent a lot of time gazing out the doors and windows yesterday afternoon and evening. But now I'm done with it.

I love that you can see Emily's reflection in the gold ornament. The photo out your back door is very pretty (don't hit me!).

It was surprising to see the snow in Bremen when I got home because we just got a few flurries in South Bend today and nothing stuck. The opposite of normal!
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:09 am (UTC)
No, I agree -- snow does look pretty! It's just all the crap that comes with it that I don't like. This was definitely not a normal Indiana snowstorm -- no lake effect stuff at all, for instance. It's more like what they got all winter on the East Coast last year, which bodes ill for us this year.
Nov. 30th, 2011 05:08 am (UTC)
Sucks, yes?
Having been their lead story far too many times -- and we did, after all, actually win(?) their "whose weather sucks the worst" contest...I feel your pain. Sadly, before the season ends, we **will** be feeling it -- literally...
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:11 am (UTC)
Honestly, I wouldn't live in your neck of the woods for love or money -- nothing further north than this for me, no sir. The truth is, in northeast Indiana we've been awfully lucky on the weather front for a few years now, and I guess this time it was just our turn.

They saw the two ways you don't want your day to start are to see yourself on the Weather Channel, or spot a news truck on your front lawn!
Nov. 30th, 2011 01:18 pm (UTC)
I must add that having the Border Patrol standing in your front yard, shaking their heads and muttering "never saw THAT happebn before" is not a good way to start the day.
Dec. 1st, 2011 07:20 am (UTC)
Yep, that's another one for the list!
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:07 am (UTC)
Keep warm!!! Live the tree :)
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:08 am (UTC)
Of course I meant LOVE the tree. Otherwise it's some weird statement .... Too early to type here LOL!!!
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:14 am (UTC)
Well, if we had some of those old fashioned lights that got really warm, I'd happily live in the tree!
Nov. 30th, 2011 08:37 am (UTC)
Feel free to keep that snow all to yourself. Keep it far away form Iowa. LOL
Dec. 1st, 2011 07:16 am (UTC)
Oh, you know Iowa will get clobbered sooner or later -- probably worse than us, although I suppose you don't have the problem with lake effect snow that we do.

We should all just get together and take over a compound on one of the Hawaiian Islands.
Dec. 1st, 2011 08:33 am (UTC)
Don't I know it! It will probably be soon then later. I would love to go to Hawaii I have always wanted to go there!
Nov. 30th, 2011 05:10 pm (UTC)
Oh my goodness! It's very beautiful - but then that's also true of the sea pics I posted yesterday - and both you and I would happily settle for warm and calm!
Dec. 1st, 2011 07:19 am (UTC)
Yes, I saw those pics -- cool waves, but not something you'd want to be in the way of! Which is how I feel about snow. Yes, warm and calm would do me just fine.
