video of my TV interview

I’m trying not to type much until my hand heals up, so instead of a longer blog here’s something I’ve been meaning to post for awhile: the television interview done with me by a local station, back before Storm Chaser came out. Want to know what I look like in real life, and see my workplace? No? Well, here it is, anyway:

Young author!

Very cool, I'm stealing this for Thursday's Book Bytes.

Yeah, that "young author" part ... I didn't have the heart to correct him. ;-)

ooh, I get into Book Bytes! That's so cool! As busy as I've been, that's one post I try to catch every week.

That was a nice little new blurb about you. I read your last post about getting your hand caught in a fan. I meant to post a comment but got distracted and forgot. I hope it is healing and feeling better.

Thanks, overall I'm a lot better; just one finger still sore, although two others are still a bit messed up. Don't worry about getting distracted -- happens to me all the time.

That was very neat. You don't sound like I imagined (though I'm never sure why anyone imagines how someone will sound - what can you base it on - but I still do it). I love the "young author" bit, especially since I'm either your age or a year younger. (Just turned 48.) If you're young, I'm young. Yay! :-)

It was a very nice interview.

Yep, we're both young! I don't know what they were thinking on that; I'm told I look younger than 49, but not *that* much younger.

I don't sound like I imagined, either; I'll never forget the first time I heard a recording of my voice, wondering if there was something wrong with the tape recorder. I *hate* hearing my own voice.

I work with someone who's nearly 74. Every once in a while we'll be talking about something and she'll sigh and say, "Well, you're young." 25 year ago that would've just annoyed me so much, but now it cracks me up. (Your voice is fine! But I think everyone is weirded out the first time they hear their own voice. When I do recordings and vids for school, it always surprises me how much I resemble my youngest sister, which is funny because we don't actually look alike. But our speaking voices and mannerisms are very similar, something I didn't realize till I saw myself.)

I know what you mean -- I was shocked the first time I realized how much like my dad I sound.

What we find annoying changes a lot when we age; as does the definition of "old". 49 was ancient to me when I was 20!
