Bah. Snowbug.

Hardly any snow here (it's snowing heavily just north of us), but the temperature's hovering near freezing, the roads are greasy, and vehicles are sliding off right and left. Do NOT go out this morning unless you absolutely have to, and even then think twice. Do NOT be so moronic as to think the speed limit means anything except what speed not to drive at. We've already had one injury this morning; we don't need any more. Ice is accumulating, so expect downed trees and power outages.

On the brighter side, the 3-5 inches of snow predicted for later today and tonight should make things all freshly white again, a few days after it all pretty much melted off in close to record high temperatures. This is pretty much typical for Indiana this type of year.

Also, Emily reports 4-5 leaks in the kitchen ceiling. Which is also pretty much typical.  It's my fault, for spending only several hours patching the roof last fall.

Here's the funny part: Conditions are substantially worse north of here. The worst of this storm has hit the upper Midwest, and we're just catching the edge of it.

EDIT: Now up to 4-6 inches of snow today and tonight.

Hmm - I wrote a comment, hit post, it did its thing - but I don't see any comment...

It only said 'Brrr - I feel your pain' - but now I am curious as to whether you can see it, or not - and whether this one will post - or not!

ETA - and after I posted this one, I can see that one. I'll go away now.

I've been having problems posting comments myself -- I keep getting a message saying the comment wasn't posted, possibly because I waited to long with the post open. Except I didn't.

Possibly the internet is drifting shut? We had three times the amount of snow yesterday that was predicted.

Okay, I just got the message again: "Invalid form submission. You may have left the reply form open too long, or logged out since you opened the page. Please try posting again." Okay, then -- I will.

Oh, and both of your comments did show, by the way!

I haven't had much luck with either so far! But spring will come, eventually.

I like when there's just enough snow to keep things looking pretty until it's time for there to be green grass again :) No more than that is needed ;)

I know what you mean: Winter can be pretty ugly, without that white covering.

sorry to hear about the roof

I keep waiting for it to heal itself, but I'm beginning to suspect that's not going to happen ...

This morning I checked my school e-mail and saw that Wayne State is closed again - 3rd snow day this winter. Surprised me since it was just a little icy outside - no snow at that point. (We have at least 3 inches now.)

Sorry about your roof - that's certainly a downside to winter. (I don't see many downsides to winter - but I do acknowledge a few!)

We had hardly any snow at the time all the accidents happened -- but the rain from earlier in the night froze on the roads, and things got very bad very quickly. Then I woke up at about noon, and it had been snowing so hard that Emily and I skipped her class; the roads were just too bad.

I see a whole crapful of downsides to winter! However, the roof leak isn't one of them -- that's been an ongoing problem for me in every season.

A leaky ceiling! Yikes! We got snow (and ice!) too. YAY.

Good luck getting through this!

Well, winters always pass ... that's what I keep telling myself ...
