When my vacation comes in late June and early July, (among other things, we're headed back down to Missouri for a wedding) I'm likely to disappear completely for awhile. I'd better start preparing some columns in advance!
Meanwhile, a little and not terribly interesting local fire story:
Fire early thursday damaged an unoccupied home near Albion, according to the Noble County Sheriff's Department.
A passer-by reportedly discovered the fire just after midnight, in a home along CR 100 W, north of 450 N, and dialed 911 to report it. Sheriff's deputies arrived minutes later to discover flames in a living room of the wood frame structure, spreading to the ceiling and into a neighboring room. It took just under half an hour for Albion firefighters to control the flames in the building, which is owned by a local resident.
The cause of the fire was not yet determined, and remains under investigation.
No one was injured in the incident, although a Noble County EMS unit stood by at the scene as a precaution.
Six fire units manned by seventeen firefighters responded on the call, returning to service at about 2:20 a.m.
