what you've done

This was sent to me by e-mail, and I found it interesting -- turns out I've done more things than I thought I had. I guess it's part of that "life happening while you wait for life to start" thing. I added one question. Those of you familiar with my questionable sense of humor will probably know it when you see it.

Place an X by all the things you've done, or remove the X from the ones
you have not, and send it to all of your friends, including me, just for a

Never eaten sushi or swum in the ocean? Wow - I feel so cosmopolitan! OK - now I need to know what your wish that came true was.

I've never had a chance to even stick my toes in the ocean. In fact, the only time I've seen one is from an airplane, while flying into an airport on Long Island. It might seem a small thing, but one of my life goals is to spend some time on both coasts, just looking out over the water.
I'll pass on the sushi, though -- I like my fish cooked. :-)

Heh. I've been to Mexico. Isn't it always the way that the farther away you are, the more likelihood you'll go somewhere? :D
( ) paid for a meal with only coins
Ahhhhhhhh, takes me back to my student days. Which are sadly not that distant! :D
I can't believe you haven't even smoked at least one cigarette! Heh. More power you ;)

*cough* *cough*
I'm a man with a very addictive personality. If I'd ever started smoking, they've have to bury me with a cig in my mouth, a pack gripped in one hand, and a lighter in the other. But the way I see it, I've gotten enough smoke from fires to make up for passing on that particular habit.

I racked my brain, but couldn't come up with a time when I paid for a meal with coins. And the closest I've ever come to Mexico was Missouri, which, it's safe to say, isn't very close. I have been to Mexico, Indiana, though. Doesn't really count, does it?

Yay, you've been to Canada!! I'm impressed that you've been in a fistfight but never skipped school (I've skipped school but never been in a fistfight).

I've done this way too many times to count: laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose. Also, even though I'm 28 I've recently colored with crayons!!!

Oh, Canada
Sadly, it was only for a few hours, on a tour of Slt. St. Marie. But I've always wanted to tour the whole country -- during summer. I know several people from up there, and they're unfailingly great.

The crayon one was iffy. It's been over a year, so I decided it didn't count as "recently" -- but what the heck, it's still fun to do!

As for not skipping school ... well, I didn't really liked being around my house, so school was the lesser of two evils.

I suppose this makes me look bad, but I've done all of these except for seen someone die, been to Mexico, and purposely set a part of yourself on fire. Of course, all the naughty ones were accomplished from ages 15-18, and I make no apologies for my indiscretions of youth. Now days, I'm loathe to even remove the tag from my mattress. I guess despite all my efforts I was just never meant to be a bad girl. ::sigh::

Anyway, I'm curious, didn't you ever have to set yourself on fire for some sort of training?

Myself on fire?
Huh. Now that you mention it, I have had some close brushes with flame, especially at brush fires. My black protective clothing has ended up with some orange patches on it where embers or heat burned the die out, and that's not a good thing. But when the question said set yourself on fire, I assumed it meant deliberately, and that's not something firefighters generally do! Maybe I should become a stunt man, so I can X that one in.

Anything done in the teenage years, short of murder and a few other felonies, can be excused as youthful indescretion. That doesn't mean it might not have consequences, but at least there's a good reason for them.

I've tried to be a bad boy myself, but despite my unhealthy interest in sex, I just can't get into the other "bad" behaviors. One of my girlfriends actually broke up with me because she said I was "too nice". As an example, I once rescued a kitten from a tree. I'm hopeless. :-(

Well, I was going to guess 'laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose', but decided to go with
(x) had deja vu
(x) had deja vu
instead. Am I close?

deja who?
You nailed it! Actually, the first deja vu was already there, but it just seemed natural for me to add the second. That's a good example of my warped sense of humor.

Whew....guess since I've nearly done it all it's time to cash in *G*. Interesting list. I'd like to explain that the meal paid for in coinage was at Micky d's from the value menu thought....I've never laid out large amounts of change to annoy a waiter LOL.

change is in the air
No, I'd never deliberately annoy a waiter, either; I've worked in the service industry, myself.

So, you've been robbed? Not good. I'm happy to have missed out on that one.

I'm starting to feel a little sorry that I never held a tea party. I can't help feeling I'm missing something, there. :-)

Re: change is in the air
Don't be sorry about missing out on SOME things. Yup, I have the "honor:" of being told by the Las Vegas police in 1982 that I was "the first armed robbery victim they'd had on the strip in the 25 years (he'd) been on the force!"

I was going for my car, parked under a sign that said the lot was monitored for safety no less. The kid put a gun against my stomach and repeatedly pulled the trigger as he relieved me of my $75.00 that I had left after seeing Seigfried and Roy at their original spot at the Frontier hotel on the strip. He wanted me to drive him away from the scene but I floored the car and he swung off off and out the open door before getting all the way in.

THe police caught him (I drove to the front of the casino and reported it immediately). He was in the process of robbing two guys. He firgured out his gun "wasn;'t working" and was slicing one man with a hunting knife. The gun WAS loaded as it turned out but the clip wasn't in place. He had a nother clip in his pocket. The kid was high on PCP and couldn't figure it out, lucky for me. I was glad for the PTSD I already had because I was calm as anything through it all and the prosecutor said I was one of the best witnesses he'd had (I was mentally cataloging features and descriptors after I figured I wasn't going to be shot). The boy did a full 7 years.

My home was also broken into when I was a teenager and I had jewelry stolen but no one was home then.

They make for interesting stories if you can live through them! AND I have the distinction of making the courtroom laugh at least once as I gave testamony (even the defendant)....that's me.

Kathleen
The tea party was not nearly so entaining a story.

scary story
No, the tea party thing probably doesn't hold a candle to that, and I can't think of a single story of mine that would beat that one. That kind of thing is one of the reasons I believe we should be more tough on crime. Seven years after trying to shoot one person, then trying to stab another, all for some more drug money? That's two counts of attempted murder in my book, which fits under the "hanging's too good for him" category.

But then, although I haven't had it happen to me, I've been involved in a lot of that kind of thing happening to other people. See it enough times and you start thinking, "enough's enough".

But yeah -- scary story. You maintained your composure much better than I would have, I think. I'd most likely have attacked him and ended up getting myself killed, or screamed like a girl and peed my pants, or both. You showed a lot of bravery, regardless of whether you felt it at the time.
