Climategate

Global warming/climate change now seems to have a new catch phrase: Global Lying. This goes beyond disagreeing over the numbers, into fraud territory.

I spent tonight hanging out on programmer forums. For the first time in my life I wish I could code; apparently I'm missing out on a great time. Tech geeks the world over, most of whom don't give a rats arse abt global warming, are literally falling off their chairs over the code. It's beyond bad, it's ludicrous. It's like a new sport, deciphering the mess.

I've been hearing the same thing from several sources; it seems, if it comes down to it, the scientists may try to plead stupidity.

Lots of good work and analysis going on here: http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2009/11/23/the-code.html#comments

I don't know WHY the media is not running with this; the story is frickin' huge, and usually their principles fall away when a story's big enough. "If it bleeds, it leads." Maybe they're just too damn stupid to follow? Or they're waiting for the coders to finish their analysis before they blow this thing wide open?

This is amazing stuff. I have to be honest with you -- it makes the global warming activists look *so* bad that I'd be convinced it was a hoax, if not for the fact that the scientists themselves aren't insisting it's a hoax. I understand that these people are not computer engineers, but that actually makes them look worse: They were so paranoid of their plot being uncovered that they couldn't find a single computer engineer that they could trust, or bribe?
