my day?

Let's see: I was awakened at 6:30 a.m. by a nightmare that I was being chased around Albion by a hoard of zombies. Fans of my writing, no doubt -- hungry for more.

Then an oil change (the car, not me), where I was told that the front tires on my car would need to be replaced by the end of winter.

Then I went to the We Care clinic, where I got a shot and blood draw -- something in, something out. Usually I'm the one who needles people.

There I was told that my cholesterol and PSA results are high. Apparently I make too many Public Service Announcements.

Then, to top it all off, I "received" a prostate exam by a female nurse practitioner. Who later told me she used to do those all day (on the job, I assume), so I guess my career path isn't so bad, after all.

And it's been raining all day.

How was your day?

I had no work so my day was boring. But I got more NaNo writing done and as I passed the 30k mark I felt like things were falling into place more. It still will need SO MUCH editing after it's done but this is the first time I've ever written anything over a couple of pages long so I suspect that's to be expected.

Zombie nightmares are not a good way to start the day. I wish you better dreams and sunshine tomorrow!

Writing is good! However, I *still* haven't edited my messed up NaNoWriMo novel, even though it shows so much potential -- that feeling of being overwhelmed is why I decided not to do it anymore.

No zombie nightmares this time around! No sunshine either, but it is November.

Certainly an interesting day!

Mine's just starting.... I'm hoping for less probing than you've been given... ;)

Well, stay away from alien spacecraft, then -- just in case. :-)

Ha -- I only have days like that now and then: you have them all the time!

I was dreading it too, but I'm of about that age ... and besides, if I hadn't gone in for the screening they wouldn't have found a problem, and who knows how much worse it might have gotten later?

My cholestral's 2.8 and my blood pressure 120/80.

Not that I'm boasting or anything. :D

Bet your prostate exam was fun?

Oh and by the way, QUIT YOUR WHINING! Try having a camera inserted into your bladder. :D
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:09 am (UTC)
That's excellent! My BP was 118/78, which is very good for someone my age, and my blood sugar (which is one thing I was really concerned about, as diabetes runs in the family) was perfect. cholesterol ... not so much. Apparently, from what I'm hearing, it's the PSA I really need to be worried about; but on the bright side, if that news gets really bad I'll just eat eggs and fried chicken to my heart's content. But if that happens, I'll be getting a case of camera insertion, too.

Emily's just getting over a bladder infection -- but thank goodness, no camera!

Ugh, not a great day. :( Sorry! Hope today is better!

Your dream sounds like the book I'm reading now - "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies." It's hilarious!

Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
Emily is reading "Pride & Prejudice" in preparation for reading that book! Glad to hear you like it, it's on my reading list now.

Your day might've been better than that nurse practitioner's!

Hope this one's better. Maybe you can get a story out of your zombie dream?
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:12 am (UTC)
She told me she used to work a job in which that was all she did all day. How's that for a dirty job! Mike Rowe should come calling, if he thinks they could use any footage on the air.

There wasn't anything in the zombie dream I could really use -- just running and being chased -- but I was already working on a zombie idea, so we'll see if these dreams become more common.

Sorry about the dream. .. I had a dream the other day, and in the dream I was dreaming . . odd . . .
When I told Vinny about your tires he said that they would be fine for winter. He thought that maybe they were just trying to make an extra buck.

What was the shot for?
Nov. 19th, 2009 06:49 pm (UTC)
The shot was for tetnus and whooping cough (which is making a comeback, I've heard). I was overdue for the tetnus shot.

I've noticed myself that the tires don't seem to grip as well as they should, but as long as I'm careful they should last until spring. It was the one thing I noticed when we were shopping for the car that I was a little iffy about.

*falls over laughing* Now I'm having a mental image of a CSI episode where the victim is a hooker whose stock-in-trade kink is giving men prostate exams. Hey, it's Vegas; it's possible! LOL
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:14 am (UTC)
There's not a thing in the world somebody hasn't turned into a kink ... but how low do you have to fall as a hooker to go there?

The question is, why did some John killer our theoretical hooker? Because she used too much lube? Gah! Now I'm having the mental image!
Nov. 19th, 2009 02:09 pm (UTC)
*pets you*
Nov. 19th, 2009 02:14 pm (UTC)
I think he's been petted enough don't you? :D

Being chased by zombies! YIKES! That would scare the crap out of me!!!
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:16 am (UTC)
Well, then, it's a good thing I didn't have that dream *while* getting the prostate exam! :->
Nov. 19th, 2009 04:37 pm (UTC)
Definately a note worthy day, hopefully a few more smooth ones are in store for the road ahead - best be replacing those tires. (heh, a pun)

I don't think I could stand giving "exams" like those. That's why I'm just a former EMT. ^_^
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:20 am (UTC)
Me love good punning!

Thank goodness EMT's never have to give those exams -- I have a feeling I'd have failed that chapter. It would have been a good way to teach rookies to glove up, though!

Well my day now seems like unmitigated delight from morning till night in comparison!
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:21 am (UTC)
We've all had our share of awful days lately, it seems.
Nov. 19th, 2009 08:44 pm (UTC)
well there's nothing been jammed up my butt yet but the day is young and with my life you can't rule things out.

On a serious note, hope nothing bad comes of that PSA level
Nov. 20th, 2009 06:24 am (UTC)
Thanks, I hope so too. I'm not too worried yet. Okay, a little.

Some people think their day isn't complete until something's jammed up their butts, but I assume most of them prefer that in the privacy of their own homes. I know what you mean, though ... these days you never know in the morning what will have transpired by evening. Believe me, I didn't walk into that office expecting I'd end up dropping my drawers.
