Got Emily down to Missouri safely, although I had some issues with allergic reactions of various kinds just before we were to leave. In addition to nursing a case of poison ivy, it seems I'm allergic to Missouri mosquitos *and* to bee stings. I got hit by a little sweat bee (I think -- the bugger was *fast*), the first time I've been stung since I was a teenager, and the result wasn't much fun.

I guess a bee allergy is to be expected, since I was already allergic to spider bites.

But the really bad news is that the date when we thought she could sign up for this fall's semester was wrong -- the website was all screwed up. The earliest she can register is the next weekend, when Jillian and Charis are going to be gone to Michigan anyway. She could have been up here for another week!

We are not amused. That's 18 hours of driving in two days, people.

Oh gosh, that's awful. I hope you're not too puffy and itchy!

Oh, it's getting better -- although not nearly as quickly as I'd prefer!

Oh no!

Hope the allergic reactions settle down and I'm so sorry about the other stuff.

Emily's mom gave me some lotion that dried up the poison ivy, and otherwise I'm all recovered -- except for those darn Missouri mosquito bites!

Boo urns to the allergy and to getting there so early by accident. Frakking websites. I hate when important things like that are wrong on them.

Yes, and you can bet we do too!

You'd think they'd be able to get a date right wouldn't you?

Sorry to hear about the reaction to the bee sting - my mum has terrible reactions to wasp stings, so I know how uncomfortable they can get!

Very uncomfortable! Not a great week, so far.

Sorry to hear about the allergies - are they epi-pen bad or just Benadryl-bad? And I hate it when you rely on a website for information and it's wrong! Glad you got there and back safely.

Just Benadryl bad -- which is bad enough, since Benadryl puts me sound asleep. Of course, this bee bite could be the one that sensitized me, which might explain why it didn't have the same reaction bee stings usually do to the allergic ... but we'll cross that 911 call when we come to it.

LOL. Sounds like you've had a run of bad luck lately. :(

Boy, the whole summer -- the whole year -- has been a run of bad luck. But, runs of bad luck have to end sooner or later, right?

Right? :-(

* Blech * all the way around.

My Hubby stepped on something that stung him and he was miserable for almost a week. Between the hurting, burning, and itching? Yuck!

Exactly -- I certainly do know just how he feels!

But I still love summer best.

You will never hear me complain about it.

Well, not nearly as often as I complain about winter, anyway. ;-)

I seem to recall a few winter posts of yours... but them me being in Michigan, I could totally relate to them!

It's hard for me to believe anyone in the midwest would actually like winter, but I have met a few ice fishermen and skiiers who feel that way. They're all nuts, of course.

People kept telling me that I needed to develop hobbies that were winter-related: cross-country skiing, ice skating, etc, THEN I'd enjoy it. Um. Nope!
