birthdays for you, present for me

Happy -- ahem -- late birthday to agdhani (Hey, I wasn't online!) and happy on time (for once) birthday to enigmaticblues!!!!! Finally, happy early birthday -- because I don't expect to be around over the weekend -- to nmissi. Hope your week has been snowless ...

On a related note, we had about five inches of heavy, slushy snow early Monday, which gave me a chance to take an early spring slip and tumble as I got out of the car after work. Yes, I *do* see the irony of needing to put ice on my ankle, shoulder, and neck.

You know what would make me feel better? A fanfiction writing award:

Judge's Choice

Hee! http://awards.rogue-poet.com/winners8a.html

Congratulations! And yeah, enough with the snow already.

Sending along healing vibes.

It's mostly melted off. In fact, the pain in my back and ankle lasted a lot longer than the snow that caused it ...

Kudos mate.

Much deserved.
Apr. 8th, 2009 05:08 am (UTC)
What, the snow and the fall, or the award? ;-)
Apr. 8th, 2009 07:25 am (UTC)

That's for you to decide.
Apr. 8th, 2009 09:56 am (UTC)
Hm, that's a toughie ...

Yep, it was a day for both of them!
Apr. 7th, 2009 11:09 am (UTC)
Feel better soon!

Apr. 8th, 2009 05:09 am (UTC)
Thanks! And yes, most of me feels better already, except for the part that doesn't. ;-)

That deserves a Snoopy dance!

The award, not the tumble...
Apr. 8th, 2009 05:10 am (UTC)
Agreed, and thanks for clarifying! I'm not really capable of doing a Snoopy dance right now, but give me a couple of days ...

Congratulations! Sorry to hear about the injuries!! Take it easy if you can :)

Emily and I are working on a project to collect pictures of Jillian, for Jillian's graduation DVD, so we've been able to sit on the couch and take it relatively easy for the last couple of days. I sure haven't had to worry about grass fires lately!

Congrats on the award! That is a VeryGoodThing indeed.

Sympathy on the injury. That hurts.

ENOUGH of the winter weather already!!!! It is time for it to warm up and STAY that way.
Apr. 8th, 2009 05:18 am (UTC)
It's supposed to warm up this week -- into the fifties. I want shirtsleeve weather, doggone it! But at least the snow is mostly gone, and other than a little limp most people wouldn't even notice I ever crashed and burned.
Apr. 8th, 2009 12:46 pm (UTC)
Uhhhh....the 40s are considered shirtsleeve weather here.
Apr. 9th, 2009 06:24 am (UTC)
It is here too, but not for *me*. I don't begin to be comfortable until it's at least into the mid 60's. Clearly, I'm one of those people who should have migrated south. (My family started in North Carolina, and generation after generation just drifted northwest ...)
Apr. 9th, 2009 12:40 pm (UTC)
I wear my coat far longer than most people around here.
Apr. 12th, 2009 10:01 am (UTC)
Sounds like you and I would fit right in together ...
Apr. 7th, 2009 04:39 pm (UTC)
It was only one to two inches up here. But, come on, snow in April?!
Apr. 8th, 2009 05:20 am (UTC)
I have a fire training report at home from the late 60's, in which there's a notation that training was canceled because 11 inches of snow fell that day.

In was MAY. :-(

Congratulations on the award. Weather here in Chicago has been nasty the past couple days as well. I almost fell down the stairs to my building when I was going to work a couple days ago because of all the slush and there was even a bit of hail. I'm so ready for spring (have been since about November).
Apr. 8th, 2009 05:26 am (UTC)
For the most part the weather you get is pretty much the weather we get -- we just get it a couple of hours later! But it does tend to be a bit cooler and windier for you. Hope you didn't end up as sore as I did!
Apr. 8th, 2009 12:09 pm (UTC)
Congrats Mark!!

It's actually colder here too, must be the fallout from you guys.

Take care of those aches.

The other day there were forst warnings posted all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico; apparently the country in one of those winter-style oscillations, in which the west half roasts and the east half freezes.
