fighting cancer

I'm doing public relations work this year for the Noble County Relay for Life, a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. My aunt Edna has stage 4 cancer, and isn't long for this world, so I've also joined the Town of Albion team that will be participating in the Relay this year. These events happen all across the country -- get involved, if you can.

Here's the announcement that came with me signing up:

Dear Family and Friends,

I’ve decided to take action and fight back against cancer by participating in an American Cancer Society Relay For Life® event. Please support me in this important cause by making a secure, tax-deductible donation online using the link below.

To donate online now, click here to visit my personal page.

Relay For Life® is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people worldwide to:

CELEBRATE the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
REMEMBER loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
FIGHT BACK. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.

Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Jedi has participated for the past two years through the honor society at school. It's such a worthwhile organization.

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt.

Yes, it certainly is!

Thanks ... my cousin is very close to my age, and when I was a kid we used to spend the night over at their house a lot; they were probably the closest of my relatives.

Oh Mark, that makes it that much worse. My very favorite aunt and uncle are still alive (he's in his eighties!), but both are in ill health. I spent summers at their home hanging with my cousin, so I know exactly how you feel.

I'm so sorry about your aunt. I donated some money and then looked to see if Avon matches gifts. They do! I emailed them to see if they will still be able to match mine.
