Writer's Block: Scaredy cat

What animal frightens you most, and why?

Spiders. They're evil. It's even in the Bible, Mark 7:14: "For spiders are evil, stomp on them." Look it up. Also, I'm allergic to spider bites, and it ain't pretty.

Okay, so maybe they aren't technically *animals*, exactly, but still ...

Raccoons.
They've got these almost opposable thumbs and I picture them jumping on my head and clawing my eyes out with them.
Seriously. A raccoon isn't something you want to mess with.

Really?

Now that I think about it, I can see your point ...

Spiders are number one on my list too...followed by almost every bug on the planet (although I do like lady bugs, butterflies, and those little gray bugs that roll up into a ball!)

Lady bugs are cool unless your house gets infested with thousands of them ... then they're not so much fun.

Insects are about the only thing I don't like about summer.

We don't get many of those, so I don't have room to complain ... but I'll take a 100 degree day over a minus zero day, every time! Just the same, a nice 80 would be just fine.

*raises an eyebrow*

I'm not familiar with the part of the bible where the Lord comands us to go forth and kill spiders. I think you might be mistaking your home-owner's guide or a pest advertisement for your religious book.

But I agree with you. Nothing give me the creepy-crawlies like bugs.

No seriously, it was right there. *flips through pages*

Huh.

Well, it's still a good idea.

Also, when they sneak up on me I scream like a girl. That's just not cool (well, not if you're a guy).

It's still not cool if you like to pretend to be a tough, independent chick like me. (Although MMW did say that he would take care of the spiders for me, as long as I let him carry them outside. He has a pet tarantula. This is how I know he isn't a creepy, Stepford boyfriend in his perfection.)

A pet tarantula would just plain be a deal maker, for me. Any woman I dated would have to be rich and own a publishing house in order for me to even consider a cage o' spider. Gah!

It lives with his parents several hours away, so I let it slide.
