Dawn writes

It's a little early, but ... mark your calendars.

Passing it on, because it's always great to meet new writers in person:

Creative writers have a place to find the support and ideas they need … it’s the Kendallville Public Library! Writers can get started telling their story at the Creative Writer’s Workshop on Thursday, August 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This group meets on the second Thursday of each month. Registration is requested. Email info@kendallvillelibrary.org to sign up.

wish me luck

I might not be around much the next couple of days: We really need to get that bathroom painted, before it sucks our souls down the home repair drain.

Noble County Relay For Life Wraps Up 2010 Effort

The 2010 Noble County Relay For Life has a tentative total of almost $60,000 raised for the fight against cancer this year.

Although there’s still a little more money to be turned in and counted, it’s already a 20% increase over the 2009 total – an awesome year of fund raising that started before the 2009 holidays, and went on right up until the event on May 22-23.

But as long as help is needed for cancer assistance and research, the fight goes on, and Relay members will soon be gearing up for the 2011 effort. Some of the committee members may be retiring this year, so the NCRFL is calling out for new people interested in assisting with the annual American Cancer Society event.

The organizational meeting for the 2011 Relay is on November 11, 7 p.m., at the Community State Bank in Albion. That may seem far in the future, but it’ll arrive in no time, so everyone is urged to contact Relay members and get involved.

At the 2010 wrap-up meeting, Relay members gave out thanks to area police officers who volunteered to keep the event safe, to the other volunteers who helped out, and especially to everyone in Noble County who showed their support in so many different ways.

Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact NCRL committee chairman Ed Anderson at speed95@ligtel.com or eanderson@nobleco.org. Team recruitment chairperson Stacey Lang can be reached at (260) 894-1418, or by e-mail at esclang@hotmail.com.
