You see? The internet can inspire people! Or at least, comments from my internet friends inspired me to wax poetic about the flowers around my house:

SLIGHTLY OFF THE MARK

the only bad things about warm weather are pollen and bugs, and the pollen can be medicated. I like to think of allergies as a luxury tax for being able to walk outside wearing less than eight layers of clothing.Collapse )

Writer's Block: Seasons in the sun

How do the seasons impact your moods? Do you take any measures to ward off depression? Would you ever consider moving to a different climate?

Hah -- where do I start? Several years ago I was diagnosed with Seasonal Affected Disorder, which basically means I'm one of those sane people who understands that winter is Of the Devil. It's all I can do not to stick my head in an oven from November through early March. So yeah, the seasons affect my moods. I ward of depression by eating large quantities of junk food and sleeping a lot, and basically living in the kitchen while baking stuff. This is not the doctor recommended solution to the problem.

Many times I've dreamed of moving to Hawaii -- or barring that, any place where it *never snows* -- but the truth is, I love Indiana, and I've sunk deep roots into Albion. I still dream of having a winter home somewhere more tropical, but I'd have a tough time leaving this place behind permanently.
