Beer Bringing Beer Bashes Pole
Beer was involved in Big Lake accident Wednesday, February 4 -- but not in the way you'd think.
It was a beer delivery truck that smashed a utility pole, police say; and the driver, ironically, was Todd M. Beer of Fremont. He was behind the wheel of a 2004 International when it rammed a pole on SR 109, near the Hilltop Tavern in Big Lake.
Beer, 46, apparently missed seeing the pole, which was cracked and damaged so badly that a crew from Columbia City Municipal Light was brought in to repair it. The amount of damage to the truck, owned by Dekalb Distributing Co., wasn't reported, but Beer escaped injury.
