book cover humor

an open love letter

Happy birthday, Emily (strangexgirl)!!!!!!!!

I've met a lot of people on the internet. Despite the horror stories you hear in the media, I don't believe I've ever met anyone here who was a really bad person. On the contrary, I've met so many people of different cultures, races, religions, from all around the world, and they've all been people -- good people, and more like each other than not.

But Emily is special, and she's the one who captured my heart. In October I went down to visit her, and this coming Saturday I'm getting the best Christmas present of all: I'm traveling down to Missouri again, but this time I'm bringing her back with me for the winter. I'm getting strangexgirl for Christmas! Giftwrapping not required. :-) Emily, we've known each other for a year and a half. Despite our age difference and living two states away, I'm constantly amazed at how much we're alike, how many interests we share, and how a somewhat cynical middle aged guy like me can find love again, and be loved in return. Here's to having many more holidays together.
Anne - What do you think?

oh, okay, fine ...

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list, while others I know relatively well. I read your journals; some of you update regularly and in detail, and some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, but you've friended me and I'd love to know more about you.

So here's a thought: Why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Anything at all, so the next time I see your name I can say, "Ah, there's so-and-so, and they love to...."

I'd love it if as many people as possible who have me friended would do this. Yes, even those of you who comment on my LJ all the time. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.
