Title meme

stolen from the well-titled beer_good_foamy and francis_eugene

A good title can make or break a fanfic. List (at least) five recent fanfics you've written. For each one, explain how you came up with the title and what it means. (All these are Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfics ...)

Where Do We Go From Here? Well, this one's pretty easy. As the credits rolled on "Chosen", my youngest and I looked at each other and said, "Wait -- they're all stranded in the middle of the desert! What happens next?! So, I wrote what happened next, and it became my first Buffy fanfic.

She Would Be Thirteen There's a slow, very sad country song about a woman mourning the son she gave up for adoption, called "He Would be Sixteen". It struck a chord in me and became an equally sad story about a vampire slayer's death. I usually go light and upbeat, so I think I surprised some people with this one.

Robin Lays an Egg This was also from a song, one I remember from my childhood that's sung to the tune of Jingle Bells: "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, Robin Lays an Egg ..." Well, it was a short jump from there to everyone's least favorite Sunnydale principal, Robin Wood. Silliness followed ...

Xander's Job It was a one shot, in which Xander learned of Cordelia's death. But I forgot to put "end" at the end, and several people said they were looking forward to the next chapter! And so this became one of the few stories I began without an outline, eventually becoming the episode that was missing from the JossVerse: I don't think I'm the only one who was upset that no one ever got to say goodbye to Cordy. It also became one of my most popular stories, receiving several nominations and at last count 6,700 hits on

A Somewhat Less Than Forever Love began with the idea of a single line: “So ... that’s when you smashed the wine bottle over The Immortal’s Head?” *Extreme* silliness followed. I've been told it's my funniest story yet, but I'm afraid the rather clunky title kept many from giving it a try. Anything that involves *all* of Buffy's ex-boyfriends is worth a try, isn't it? :-/
