say huh?

Your Elf Name Is...

Fuzzy Sugar Butt

Hey, no double meaning there.

I've had a horrible sinus headache -- especially bad tonight, but on and off for several days. Even my regular sinus med doesn't help much, and taking it has the side effect of leaving my eyes all dried out and scratchy. Could the constant parade of low pressure systems bringing snow/sleet/rain/freezing rain to Indiana be responsible? Um, yes. And now my roof's leaking, which means it might actually be a combo sinus/stress headache.

Winter stinks. All of it. As the appropriate saying goes, it sucks on ice.

There, emo moment passed. We now return you to your regularly scheduled "my life is way better than a lot of other people." Besides, strangexgirl is going to be here in just a week and a half, and that's a very good thing.

Did you ever treat yourself to a couple of daylight bulbs to make you feel a bit better over the winter? I've had mine on for a few days because we've had miserable days that don't seem to get light all day and it's depressing.

Hope the roof leakage doesn't cause too much damage.

I bought some of those smaller energy efficient bulbs that supposedly give a better kind of light for people like me, but I haven't noticed a whole lot of difference so far ... maybe when my longevity check comes through at the beginning of the year it'll be time to finally go the next step.

Just stained ceiling tiles so far, and some were already stained -- every time I think I've got the leak tracked down it pops up somewhere else. I need to replace the entire roof ... *checks wallet* ... later.

Well -- at least I'm not a slave o' Santa!

I'm beginning to suspect I have a sinus infection ... most of the symptoms aren't there, but this over and beyond what I usually go through. Note to self -- doctor appointment.

Fuzzy Sugar Butt?
Wasn't that your stage name at that gay club you told me you used to dance at?

Let me stress this in no uncertain terms: I only danced.

I get sinus headaches too, so I feel your pain. Literally.

My roof leaked a couple months ago during our rainy season and it rained for several days in a row so the roofers couldn't fix it, and it ended up staining the family room ceiling and destroying the ceiling light fixture. Then besides the new roof I had to buy a light fixture and paint the damn ceiling. The point is, hey, it could be worse....

And only a week and a half, now there's a good thing. Grab that thought and hold on tight. :-)

The only good thing about sinus headaches is that you know exactly what you've got -- no question.

It sure could be worse! The ceiling tiles are already stained, because I've been fighting with the flat roof area over my kitchen ever since I bought the house, 19 years ago. I had a rubber membrane roofing put over it, which worked great, but it's past its useful life and starting to deteriorate. At the moment I'm looking for a roofer who takes very small payments, or -- and this one's more likely -- a miracle. Considering the time of year, it's going to be a *loooonnnnngggg* winter. Anyway, the pitched roof also badly needs replaced but has never leaked, so I should consider myself lucky.

Have you ever looked into Flintlastic for your roof? Self adhesive rolled roofing. It might be less expensive than the rubber membrane stuff.

I did your meme and I'm Ditzy Eggnog Breath.

My God, how did they know?
Looks over shoulder.

I've never heard of that, but it's worth looking into eventually. Right now I can't afford any material, no matter how inexpensive, and I also can't afford to pay whoever puts it up. Believe me, you do *not* want me doing that job myself. :-)

The roofing stuff is actually marketed under a couple different trade names, but it's really pretty awesome. It looks a lot like self adhesive floor tiles, but in layers with a vapor barrier between. It goes on easily, hence costs less to install and lasts for a really long time. Crewman4 (my hubby) watched it being installed on the roof of the large building where he works and was most impressed, to the point of going outside and talking with the roofing supervisor. He scored a couple pieces and brought it home to show me. It looks very durable. When you do get the money up, keep it in mind to check out.

Yeah,I don't think roofing is a do-it-yourself type project for anyone. Although it would make for good tv watching people on the Home Improvement Channel lashed together, stoically scaling the side of their house, their sole objective to get those shingles up to the very pinnacle. :-)

I will! Maybe I can cover the whole darn house with the stuff, including the walls. Who needs windows? :-)

Yeah, I think windows are over rated.
Looking out my office window at the mess the storm left behind.

Now that everyone has cell phone cameras, I hope you've been cutting down on that eggnog ...

Awwww, but I love the nog so. Please sir, can I have some more?
Holds out empty cup and offers up pitiful pleading look.

Seriously, I really do love eggnog and yet still haven't had any this season, too busy working and hanging out here on lj. :-) Although we're going to a party tonight and so the promise of possible nog..... I shall just have to stay away from anyone with a cell phone. May end up locked away alone in the closet with the bowl. :-)

Well ... okay, you can have mine, since I hate eggnog. I'll trade you for fudge. :-)

Deal! I am still without decent nog.
grumbles

Alas, no nog was served last night. Everyone was too busy drinking all manner of other stuff. I have given up waiting and shall make an insertion at the local grocery. Dashing through the kill zone (baked goods) I will quickly co opt the first nog I locate. Then, clutching it to me greedily I will return to base camp where I shall hide in my closet with my trophy.

Sorry, I was around waaaay too many service personnel last night. LOL
