One of the earliest books I ever remember reading (other than the Oz books) was "A Wrinkle in Time". I didn't realize the author was still alive, and now she isn't: Madeleine L'Engle has passed away, and we've lost still another great author. At least she left behind a great body of work, which hopefully will continue to be read for generations to come.

Has there ever been a movie based on one of her books? If not, why not?

Honestly, I like the fact that there's not been.

Wrinkle in Time... if done wrong... would shatter teh entire fabric of teh universe with the travesty.

And yes, I had the same reaction... "She's still alive?! OMG, SHE CAN'T HAVE DIED!!!"

Beautiful beautiful book... and an amazing author.

At least in a way, she's immortal (or at least alive until the world forgets about her books).

Oh, yes -- it could be done *so* wrong, you're absolutely right.

I hope the world never forgets her books. People are still reading Baum's Oz books, more than a century after he wrote the first one, so there's hope.
