One of the earliest books I ever remember reading (other than the Oz books) was "A Wrinkle in Time". I didn't realize the author was still alive, and now she isn't: Madeleine L'Engle has passed away, and we've lost still another great author. At least she left behind a great body of work, which hopefully will continue to be read for generations to come.

Has there ever been a movie based on one of her books? If not, why not?

I adored A Wrinkle in Time as a teenager, then became very excited about ten years ago - once the Internet had become part of my life - to discover not only that she'd written other books, but that some of them were about the same people. I don't think all of her books made it over here, certainly not when I was at the target age.

I'm sorry to hear she has passed away. Children's literature is poorer for her loss.

If only I can find the time, I'm really looking forward to reading the sequels. Maybe news of her death will spark a new interest, and people will start reading all her works again -- we can only hope.
