That's no bull ... wait, yes it is ...

Trailer Dumps Load of Bull

by Mark Hunter, hard-hitting New Era staff writer
(so many puns, so little time)

A bull rather miraculously escaped injury after it fell through the floor of a moving trailer near Cromwell Saturday.

Fire and police personnel originally responded to a report of an accident involving a horse trailer on Orange Street, but then discovered the incident actually happened in a horse track just west of town, and didn't involve a collision. What they did discovered, at about 3:45 p.m., was that a trailer floor apparently caved in, dropping a bull through onto the road. It was reportedly dragged a short distance before the driver could get stopped.

Although there were reports that the animal was bleeding, it apparently wasn't seriously injured and was corralled without difficulty.

The Noble County Sheriff's Department and Cromwell Fire Department responded to the incident.

Awww. The poor poppet. I bet it won't get a hug. Just barbequed.

Maybe ... but since it was a bull, he might have been on the way to, um, reproduce, in which case he at least got some fun out of his journey later.

don't have a cow
I'm glad to hear *no one* was hurt -- an upset bull is nothing to mess with!

Well, it's probably a breeding animal -- most bulls being carted around in this area are. So don't feel too bad for him just yet!

Funny but weird.

Ouch! I'm not surprised it wasn't badly hurt, though--bulls are fairly tough critters.

So where's Cromwell? I think it's true around here too that most bulls being moved aren't heading for the barby.

Well, specifically Cromwell's about 10 miles west of Albion, which probably doesn't help you very much. :-) We're northwest of Fort Wayne, Indiana, which puts us about a three hour drive east of Chicago in northeast Indiana.

Having said that, I'd guess that most bulls everywhere are used more for procreation than for dinner (at least in the USA) -- which makes me wonder why they always seem to have a bad attitude. :-)
